(November 5, 2011) TOMODACHI AID FOR 3.11 team visited a temporary house built on the school ground of Shishiori Junior High School, Kesennuma, Miyagi. About 300 tsunami victims live together with each family being allocated into a modest prefabricated room. This time, our 7 staff members included 3 visually challenged professional acupuncturists with a cute guide dog! So we offered high-level massage as our main aid service to prevent deep vein thrombosis (also known as economy class syndrome) which can be a life threatening problem. We also served hot Starbucks Latte & large sized sugar-frosted donuts fresh out of a bakery which became popular among children. We also enjoyed singing a couple of cheerful songs together. We certainly pray that these fun moments we shared would help even a bit to re-develop the village-like community someday.
After having delicious hot coffee & tasty donuts, people naturally started singing local songs together for us. This is what we wanted to see, some encouraging spirits!
Our large-sized sugar-frosted donuts were super-welcomed especially by children!
